This week's photoblogging finally breaks out of the sterile rut of plain architectural shots. We return to the site of our very first school photoblogging shot, Aptos Middle School. Enjoy.
Note that this shot was not taken at the school, but at the park next door which has been demolished and is being rebuilt. It is not a part of, nor is it under the supervision of Aptos Middle School.
Really? Before construction it was pretty hard to tell the difference between school and park. The boarder is headed right into school property, I'm pretty sure.
I've been meaning to check out the construction. What are they doing to the park?
The school property ends at the sidewalk alongside the school. During park construction students can not even access the schoolyard through the park driveway gate the way they always have before because it is within the construction zone, is under the jurisdiction of the contractor, and is completely fenced off. It is Recreation and Park dept. property.
Since its founding in 2000, many dedicated school stakeholders have gathered on sfschools@yahoogroups.com to advocate for better schools in San Francisco. The Yahoo group is great for engaging, moblizing, sharing information with a very motivated, diverse group of parents, educators, politicians, and reporters. If you like what you read here and you want to add your voice to our conversation, please join us.
"Think globally, act locally" is an apt motto for this blog. Many issues facing San Francisco schools are regional and national in scope. Here we share our experiences and ideas with a wider audience. Also, many San Franciscans prefer to skip the often passionate debate found on the list. The blog provides them with useful information in an accessible format.
Enjoy!

Is there going to something dividing the park and the school when the construction is done?
