First reports from School Closure Meeting

The Chron is the first to report: Many S.F. schools closed or merged
San Francisco's Board of Education Thursday night voted to close, merge and relocate more than a dozen public schools to save some of the millions that the district says it lost this year due to declining enrollment.
The following schools are affected:
  • Enola Maxwell closed
  • Luther Burbank closed
  • Cabrillo closed
  • JBBP West merged into Rosa Parks
  • John Swett merged into John Miur
  • ISA moved to Enola Maxwell
  • Aim High moved to Luther Burbank
  • Downtown High School moved to ISA
  • Center for Independent Studies moved to JBBP West
  • Newcomer moved to Edison.
  • Edison Charter relocated to TBD
  • Leadership moved to TBD
These schools are spared:
  • Peabody, Malcolm X, McKinley, Ortega, Rosa Parks and Sheridan will not be closed
  • New Traditions and Grattan will not be merged
  • Willie Brown will not be relocated
  • The county programsz will not be relocated
  • Starr King and Daniel Webster will not be merged
More to come, I'm sure.
