Catching up with Teachers of the Month

Ooops. I totally dropped the ball and missed, what, about a half year's worth of 826 Valencia's Teacher of the Month awards? Who cares if I'm way late. These teachers deserve to be recognized, again and again.

The February winner is Jeanette Chin a 2nd grade teacher at Alamo Elementary School:
Numerous students and parents have written to us about her dedication and excellence in the classroom. Ms. Chin is an exemplary teacher who cares about each of her student’s individual needs, encouraging and helping those who struggle as well as challenging everyone to reach their full potential. She pays attention to the small details, which, in the end, make all the difference. Students enjoy and prosper from the individual attention they receive and parents are grateful to know their children spend their days in such a positive atmosphere.
The March winner is Jessica Case, an 8th grade teacher at Everett Middle School:
Ms. Case has been at Everett for two years, and in that time has spearheaded a variety of activities: She has acted as the staff sponsor at Everett's Peace Day, led the first annual Everett Middle School Dance Competition, is the student government sponsor and has facilitated the student talent shows.
The April winner is Debra Moore a first grade teacher at Commodore Sloat Elementary:
where she has been energetically helping children learn for many years. With a background in special education, Ms. Moore is astoundingly caring, and her creative teaching style motivates her students in all of their endeavors.
Finally, the May winner is Callen Taylor a social studies teacher at Mission High School:
where she has gone above and beyond the call of teaching-duty for the past four years. Through her dynamic and creative lessons — all of which incorporate elements from language arts, history and technology standards — Ms. Taylor inspires her students, boosts their scholastic confidence and allows them to learn in an engaging, hands-on manner.
Congratulation, belatedly, to all of these winners. Remember, if you or your child want to nominate one or more of your favorite, life-changing teachers, just follow the directions on the 826 Valencia site and testify!
