BOE campaign spending
Note that the information is completely uneven and incomplete. We can only see the data that is in the USF database. I have no idea how complete or up to date this data is, but I would guess that it is very incomplete. Even so, it is interesting to see who is raising money. If you go to this site you can see who gave and what it was spent on. Very interesting data.

Hi K.C. Thanks for your note about whosfundingwhom.org. I'm professor David Wolber, the director of the project.
The data shown at the site is downloaded directly from the San Francisco Ethics Commission every few weeks, so it basically shows what has been filed. I think the committees are required to file quarterly.
Researchers can verify the data at the Ethics site, http://mission.sfgov.org/cfsearch/Date.aspx.
The goal of our site is just to make searching and navigating a bit easier. We also provide graph views showing funding relationships at multiple degrees of separation.
I'm also working on another site that might be of interest to your readers. Check out http://peoplicious.com/Politicos/lists/SF+School+Board+Candidates.
This BOE page is part of opencampaigns.com. Its a wikipedia-like site, so anyone can add more information to it and they are encouraged to do so.
Keep up the good work!
David, thanks for dropping by. Nice to see the web used to shine a more useful light on campaign finances. It really is cool to be able to drill down into each campaign and see who is contributing and where the money is going. THe time lag is a bit frustrating, but inevitable.
